Our Focus | Our Plan
We know English as a Second Language (ESL) adult learners want relevant and stimulating learning opportunities. In the years before we launched the SustainableESL.com website we spent a lot of time on the internet looking for ESL resources on sustainability. We found very little. Typically, an ESL teacher or ESL tutor might provide one unit—usually on "environmental issues" or "global warming" or "sustainable development"—and .... no more. (?) "But there is so much to talk about and argue about and think about and ask about!" we said to ourselves. We decided there is a big need for SustainableESL.com. Our content focuses mostly on major themes, including three major themes (or "pillars") of sustainability (environmental sustainability, social sustainability, economic sustainability), justice (or "equity", "equality", "fairness") (environmental justice, social justice, economic justice) and citizenship. Our interests in these themes are broad—we hope yours are too!
